Printing courses

Printing gives us more options, particularly in blended classrooms:

  • some accessibility issues can be solved by printing
  • during (proctored) exams, learners like to have printed copies of the questions
  • in class, printouts can be used if the network or server is slow
  • PDFs offer a way to have long-lasting access to courseware, if the course is removed

Making a course printable requires two things:

  • better & more stable CSS stylesheets for printing
  • in particular a style sheet that hides unnecessary interface from the print version
  • ability to print multiple verticals (units)
  • (advanced) a way to deal with randomized content and content cohorts
